Carnelian is a silica based mineral front he chalcedony family and is considered a semi-precious gemstone. Carnelian’s color comes from oxidized iron impurities and is commonly seen as a crystal mostly reddish brown to red to orange hues and will vary from translucent to semi-opaque.
